Garbage Pail Kids is a series of sticker trading cards produced by the Topps Company, originally released in 1985. Designed as a parody of the wildly popular Cabbage Patch Kids dolls, the series quickly gained attention. Topps likely didn’t realize at first the collecting frenzy they had created, as 15 series were released between 1985 and 1988. While the cards were primarily popular with kids at the time, the set has since developed a cult following among collectors of all ages.

The first series of Garbage Pail Kids cards—which is the box offered in this lot—is by far the rarest and most valuable of the entire run. Whether due to lower sales or limited production as Topps tested the market, this series remains the most sought-after by collectors. The box contains 48 unopened packs (each with "25¢" printed on the wrapper), all of which are fresh and clean, grading as NM-MT.

This inaugural set includes the iconic Adam Bomb card, considered the centerpiece of Garbage Pail Kids collecting. The image of Adam Bomb became so iconic that it was featured on the packaging and promotional material for the first five series of the collection.
