The 1985 O-Pee-Chee WWF Wrestling Cards represent a pivotal moment in the intersection of sports entertainment and trading card collecting. Released during the height of the World Wrestling Federation's (WWF) 1980s boom, this set captured the essence of the WWF's golden era, solidifying its place in the trading card hobby.
Produced by O-Pee-Chee, the Canadian counterpart to Topps, the set mirrored the Topps WWF series but included subtle differences that make it particularly appealing to collectors. The O-Pee-Chee cards were printed in smaller quantities, making them rarer and more sought after, especially in high grades. This scarcity contributes to their value and allure in today's market.

The 1st series set consists of 66 cards, showcasing many of the most iconic wrestlers of the era, including Hulk Hogan, Jesse Ventura and Rowdy Roddy Piper. Each card features vibrant photography that highlights the larger-than-life personas and dramatic action shots that epitomized professional wrestling in the 1980s. The reverse sides of the cards offer colorful trivia and entertaining facts about the wrestlers, further engaging fans and collectors alike.

For wrestling enthusiasts, the 1985 O-Pee-Chee WWF cards hold immense nostalgic value, as they capture the personalities and energy that propelled professional wrestling into mainstream popularity. For card collectors, they represent an important piece of hobby history, with key cards—such as those featuring Hulk Hogan—ranking among the most valuable wrestling cards ever produced.

While the Series 2 unopened box from this 1985 issue is relatively easy to find, the Series 1 box rarely appears on the market for sale or auction. While we have handled several dozen Series 2 boxes, the number of Series 1 boxes we’ve encountered is in the single digits!
