The 1957-58 Topps Bob Cousy card holds a special place in basketball card history and hobby lore. As part of the very first basketball set issued by Topps, this card features one of the game's true pioneers and innovators. Bob Cousy, known as "The Houdini of the Hardwood," was the floor general of the Boston Celtics dynasty, a six-time NBA champion, and one of the greatest point guards the game has ever seen. His flashy, no-look passes and dazzling ball handling helped revolutionize the position and set the stage for future generations. Visually, the card captures a simple charm. The design is minimal but bold—typical of the era. The 1957-58 Topps set itself is known for its extreme scarcity, particularly in high grade, due to poor centering and print quality. As a result, the Bob Cousy card is both historically significant and highly desirable among collectors. Whether you're a Celtics fan, a vintage card enthusiast, or simply someone who appreciates the roots of the modern game, the 1957-58 Topps Bob Cousy card is a piece of cardboard history that represents the golden age of basketball and the legacy of a true legend. This high-end example was recently graded by PSA under the notoriously tough standards applied to the 1957-58 Topps basketball set. Impressively, this card is free of the common white print defects that often plague this issue—especially noticeable against the black background. Most examples of this card show distracting white specks, but not this one. This particular example also flirts with mint status. Centering is approximately 55/45 or better in both directions, and the corners are nearly pinpoint sharp. PSA has graded only two examples at the 8.5 level, with just three graded higher. The only other PSA 8.5 sold publicly brought nearly $30,000—eight years ago! To our knowledge, there has never been a public sale of a PSA 9. This is one of the most important basketball rookie cards in the hobby, offered here in a grade that rarely becomes available!
