Considered by many as the golden age of baseball, and the beginning of the post war card era, the 1950’s offered several of the most beautiful baseball card sets ever produced.
Bowman took its best shot at Topps in 1954, signing New York Yankees phenom Mickey Mantle to an exclusive trading card contract, meaning that in 1954 (and 55), Bowman packs were the only place to find a Mickey Mantle card. This phenomenal 1954 pack could contain high grade examples of Mantle, Mays, Williams, or numerous other hall of famers, and is the highest graded wax pack of the issue, as a PSA 9. An extremely rare find with none grading higher, this pack looks just as it did when leaving the Bowman factory nearly 7 decades ago. Presenting in incredible uncirculated condition and preserved in a PSA holder, it will be a perfect addition (or beginning) to your high grade vintage unopened collection.
We have noticed a mistake (possibly) in this lot. We stated that this PSA 9 was the highest graded example. When the description was written, we accidentally viewed the POP report and used the football POP. The population for 1954 Bowman baseball shows a POP of 7 in PSA 10. However when viewing the population report, there is no seperate listing for 1 cent packs and 5 cent packs. Both the penny and the nickle are lumped together into one POP line item. So we really dont know how many of those could be 1 cent packs or 5 cent packs. Trying to do some research, there in nothing higher than a PSA 8 grade with data for the 5 cent pack using VCP. We cant find much data at all for a PSA 10 grade in 1 cent or 5 cent sales.
