Issued by the American Caramel Company, the E121 series was among the first major sets to feature Ruth as a member of the New York Yankees, marking a pivotal moment in his legendary career. Having recently made the transition from Boston to New York, Ruth was in the midst of revolutionizing the sport with his unprecedented home run-hitting prowess. The card itself is a classic black-and-white photographic depiction of Ruth, showcasing the simplicity and elegance of early baseball card design. This is the version where the name is listed as “Babe” Ruth (as opposed to the one labeled as George). The reverse of the card contains an advertisement for American Caramel, a common feature in pre-war candy cards. While we all know that a card graded as “Poor 1” by any third-party service will exhibit wear, creasing, or other signs of being “well loved”, there are varying degrees within that designation. Despite the flaws that contribute to this card’s low grade, none of them affect the image of Ruth whatsoever! There are no creases, wear, or blemishes that disrupt the perfectly preserved and visually appealing depiction of the Babe on this card! The back of the card does not have any paper loss or issues with any of the print.
