The 1981 Topps set features the rookie cards of Fernando Valenzuela, Kirk Gibson, Harold Baines, and Tim Raines, along with established stars like Nolan Ryan, Rickey Henderson, Mike Schmidt, George Brett, and Reggie Jackson. This was also the first year Topps faced competition from both Donruss and Fleer, making it a notable year in hobby history.
